Sweet Little Lies ready for Preview challenge
Co-trainer Simon Zahra says Sweet Little Lies has improved from her stunning debut success and is ready for her shot at making the Group I Blue Diamond Stakes (1200m) field at Thursday's Caulfield meeting.
Sweet Little Lies showed she was among the best juveniles to race in Victoria with her victory at Caulfield on January 7 to give Zahra and his training partner Mathew Ellerton reason to think they could have a Blue Diamond Stakes contender.
However, the Flemington stable did not enter the daughter of Elusive Quality for the Blue Diamond Stakes.
The youngster must win Thursday's Listed Blue Diamond Preview (1000m) to justify Ellerton and Zahra paying a late entry fee to race the filly in the $1 million event. Zahra said Sweet Little Lies has done everything right ahead of her bid to remain unbeaten on Australia Day.
"We gave her an easy time for a few days after her first run,” Zahra said.
"She came into the stable and has very well since. She has definitely improved with the race under her belt.
"Her work has been very good in the past fortnight and she is ready to go on Thursday but she will need to be because the race is going to be pretty strong.
"If she wins then we will have to really think hard about the late entry fee for the Blue Diamond.”
